Jane Kelly, B.A., LL.B.
Jane Kelly was called to the Ontario Bar in 1990
and continued to work for Fasken, Campbell & Godfrey, gaining a variety
of experience in large files including criminal and civil matters.
While at Fasken, Campbell, Godfrey, she was co-counsel at the Hryciuk Inquiry
shortly before joining the Office of the Crown Attorney. Ms. Kelly
was at the Crown's Office from 1994 to 1996 where she gained a wide
array of experience including conducting numerous jury trials (and non-jury
trials) dealing with charges in all areas including homicide, criminal
negligence causing death, aggravated assault, sexual assault, robbery,
extortion, obstruct justice and weapons offences.
Since the creation of the criminal defence firm
of Kelly and Jennings in 1996 Ms. Kelly has specialized in larger trial
matters including dealing with charges of homicide, sexual assault, extradition
and fraud. Ms. Kelly has also conducted administrative prosecutions
on behalf of the Law Society of Upper Canada as well as acting as special
duty counsel to lawyers on matters before the Law Society of Upper
Canada.
Glen Jennings, B.A., LL.B.
Glen Jennings was called to the Ontario Bar in
1994 after completing his articles with Greenspan, Rosenberg & Buhr.
He then joined the office of the Crown Attorney gaining experience in most
areas of criminal law by conducting numerous jury trials (and non-jury
trials) dealing with charges in areas including homicide, criminal negligence
causing death, aggravated assault, sexual assault, robbery, extortion,
obstruct justice and weapons offences. Since the creation of the
criminal law defence firm of Kelly & Jennings in 1996, Mr. Jennings
has continued to practice in all of the above areas particularly focussing
on Charter litigation within these areas. He also acted as counsel
to one of the lead investigators at the Morin Inquiry.
Throughout his career, Mr. Jennings has appeared
at the Ontario Court of Appeal and regularly at the Superior Court of Justice
conducting numerous jury trials (and non-jury trials) dealing with charges
in all areas including homicide, criminal negligence cause death, aggravated
assault, sexual assault, robbery extortion, obstruct justice and weapons
offences. He has also appeared regularly at the Ontario Court of
Justice with a particular focus on impaired driving and Charter litigation.
Michael Lacy, B.A., LL.B.
Michael Lacy is a partner in the law firm of
Kelly, Jennings & Lacy having been called to the bar in 1997 after
articling at the criminal law firm of Gold and Fuerst. His practice
is restricted to criminal and quasi-criminal law at both the appellate
and trial levels. Mr. Lacy regularly appears at all levels of Court
including the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
He has also appeared in the Supreme Court of Canada. His trial and
appeal matters have dealt with charges in all areas including homicide,
criminal negligence cause death, extradition, aggravated assault, sexual
assault, robbery, extortion, obstruct justice, impaired driving and weapons
offences.
Mr. Lacy is currently one of the editors
of the Weekly Criminal Bulletin (WCBs). Additionally, he is a regular
contributor to the Criminal Lawyers Association Newsletter, 'For the Defence'
and has recently written articles on Conditional Sentences and Post-Conviction
DNA Orders. He has also had the privilege of volunteering his time
as special duty counsel as part of the Court of Appeal Duty Counsel program
for un-represented inmates.
Jennifer Thompson, B.A., LL.B.
Jennifer Thompson was called to the Ontario Bar
in February 2001 after completing her articles with Kelly and Jennings.
Ms. Thompson currently conducts various trial matters at the Ontario Court
of Justice and assists in the preparation of most large files as well as
the preparation of appeal matters.
